How to reach Phyang?
By Air
The optimal recommendation for first-time visitors to Phyang is air travel to Leh. This convenient option connects the city of Leh with major Indian cities like New Delhi, Srinagar, and Jammu. Most leading airlines offer this route, ensuring accessibility and reducing travel time to just 1 to 1.5 hours. If you happen to be traveling to Leh by air, then we advise you to recuperate for a day to get used to the “low oxygen level.”
By Road
For those who happen to prefer a more scenic and adventurous route to Phyang, you have two options but keep in mind that you can only use them during March–October, as any time after that the roads are closed due to heavy snowfall.
Winters in Phyang
Just like in Leh, the effects of high altitude can also be felt in Phyang Village, which is why we request our guests consult with their doctors before traveling to Ladakh about taking medication that can help counter mountain sickness or high altitude sickness. Once you are acclimatized, you can go around exploring the wonders Ladakh has to offer.
Summers in the village are pleasant, but during winters, the temperature can drop to as low as -20 °C. Ladakh has not been immune to global climate change, which is why an occasional cold day in the summer is not unheard of. For this reason, we kindly ask travelers to come prepared with suitable clothing to accommodate changing temperatures. Additionally, if necessary, you can purchase additional clothing in Leh.
